Enough Already!

Hi All.

Enough with winter already.

Artzzle.com

Since November, it’s been snow . . .

and Snow . . .

and MORE SNOW

We live in Minnesota, an hour northwest of the Twin Cities. We’ve had 37″ of snow so far and our average amount at this date is 21″ or so.

It’s still only February, so we know that means . . . “it ain’t done yet!”

It isn’t a monster below . . . it’s my Mister . . . after digging out.

Artzzle.com

Digging out his truck that was stuck for two days in a 4′ drift at the top of the driveway.
Digging out the propane tank so they can deliver the 175 gallons of gas at a $595.16 cost.
Digging out a space to start the snowblower and find the rest of the driveway.

They say you can’t avoid death, taxes . . . or the weather.

Well, we’re healthy.
We already filed taxes and will even get a bit of a refund.
The snowblower works fine, and winter does have to end . . . sometime . . . RIGHT?

So, we’re trying to brighten up our spaces a bit. I put a new runner and scarf on the table, brought out vases in those colors and put a few houseplants in them.

Artzzle.com

Do you think it helped a little? Even so, it’s not enough!

Problem is, now I don’t like all our brown and beige walls. That’s a pretty big problem too, because I just painted those walls last year around this time. Hey, I love new paint, I just don’t love putting it on the walls!

And I keep seeing all these other wonderful colors everywhere.

Leslie over at the SEASONED HOMEMAKER brighten up with some pretty new toss pillows. Leslie’s great at sewing though . . . me, not so much!

Look at this recent HOUZZ update. BECKY DIETRICH, HOUZZ Contributor is one of my favorite writers over there.

Centsational Girl, is into blues, grays and all kinds of fun today, TAILORED TOUCHES TO THE MASTER bedroom.

I’ll need to be satisfied with daydreaming for a bit, as we have to handle that propane bill first.

Are you fending off winter blahs? Let me know how, because YOU KNOW I love hearing from you! Meantime, stay warm, stay safe and . . . don’t stress, just start something!

MICHAEL’S & hometalk . . . Sunday, PINTEREST Event

Hi All.

Hey, don’t miss the MICHAELS and hometalk PINTEREST EVENT . . . tomorrow at your closest Michaels store.
Sunday, February 16, 1 pm – 4 pm at all stores

MICHAELS Party

Don’t just pin it, make it your own. Check out their Pinterest-inspired displays, buy your supplies and meet in their classroom to create your own pin-worthy project.

I have to miss this one, but will be following up on PINTEREST, and with some of my followers/bloggers who are demonstrating in their cities. Leslie over at the SEASONED HOMEMAKER, and Karen from DOGS DON”T EAT PIZZA will be at their particular stores.

Pooped out from all the super SITS blogging this past week, and still in the midst of trying to spruce up Artzzle and get the word out, I’m taking a break from posts for a few days. My mind is on Inspiration and Information OVERLOAD . . . so am stepping back for a breather.

Yeah, yeah . . . I know Valentine’s are so yesterday, but there’s one more YOU HAVE TO READ. It’s hilarious and will be appreciated . . . whatever the date. Just look at the title (if you don’t believe me) VALENTINE’S CARDS, KMART and MY UNDERWEAR

As always, I’m so glad you spent some time with me today.
And remember, try not to stress about it, just start that project!

Friday Features

It’s Friday. Yep, it rolls around every week about now.

Friday is (usually) my “go to town” day. I’m trying to become a “scheduler” type. You know … organize my time, supposedly to control it and maximize use.

This is the day I schedule for away trips … get groceries, run errands, and do a little side shopping when the budget permits. Aby over at SIMPLIFY 101 has lots of sensible tips for organizing. Her info has concise, to-the-point suggestions that can be read quickly and applied easily to your home routines. Best of all, she allows for flexibility with schedules and rules. Aby knows, as do we all, that everyday, things just happen that weren’t on the schedule, and we have to adapt … go with the flow.

Today’s Friday for me, is flowing more towards staying home. It’s a gorgeous, sunny day and I’m in the mood for … well, I’m not exactly sure what I’m in the mood for, but it isn’t going to town and dealing with “places packed with people”.

My Newfie/Lab mix Fozzie is keeping me company this morning. Our Gracie is very much a “girly girl”. She’s sleeping in.

I started my Friday morning out at my computer, in my “new-to-me” desk chair. Isn’t it bootyful? And it fits my booty so comfortably.

Mr. Chair and Miss Mirror were found at a favorite area store, DISCOVERY THRIFT My local readers love Discovery, but it’s also proof positive for everyone else, that you should investigate any/all thrift stores in your own area because there are big deals that don’t need big budgets. Okay, so I have to share what I paid (and make everyone jealous). The mirror was … wait for it … $15 … YES, just fifteen dollars! It is heavy glass with solid wood framing. If you’ve ever searched for mirrors of this quality, used or otherwise, you know what a bargain this is.

And the super comfortable, clean and adjustable desk chair (in excellent repair) … are you ready? My chair was only $35 and worth every penny. I’m at my desk, enjoying it right now.

I’m thinking of putting my mirror on top of this piece. Will probably do some sort of paint treatment on both to bring them together.

Everyone is budget concious now days, even bloggers and DIYers. That’s why I wanted to share another online find today, for you artistic types. Karen, THE GRAPHICS FAIRY is one of my featured favorites today. We seem to have quite a bit in common; blended families, graphics design; dog lovers. and Karen shares oodles well tons, let’s just say LOTS of wonderful graphics images for just about any project a person can think of … and they’re FREE. Plus there are DIY projects, tutorials and all kinds of fun stuff.

Do you notice how most blogs are about more than just one thing? They are a wonderful way for us to share, care and learn about many interests. That’s why I began Artzzle, because I’ve always truly felt that Life is a “Giant Puzzle of Art and Design”.

Hope I’ve added a few pieces to your puzzle today! Visit these features and let me know what you think. And tell them Cheryl at Artzzle sent you over. Be sure to share your favorite posts with friends so they can join us too!

As always, don’t stress, just start.

Free Halloween Templates

Artzzle.com

Hi all. I’m in the middle of making a Halloween Mobile. Don’t have it finished yet but thought I would share my templates so you could play with them too! Click the link below for my FREE printables. When the file opens, hover your cursor over the image until the Adobe Reader menu appears, and simply choose to print from there.

HALLOWEEN PRINTABLES

For my mobile I wanted my figures to be pretty on both sides. When you’re using card stock, construction or regular colored papers, that won’t be a problem. But some of the paper I used is only one-sided so I’ll show you how I prepared those before cutting out the images.

Artzzle.com

Above is a sheet of scrapbook paper, plain on the back side. Now, fold this sheet in half, with your pretty side showing. Your fold can be either horizontally or diagonally, wherever you get the most room for your template(s).

Now open your paper to the white side, and apply glue to only one side of the fold. I use a glue wheel or double-sided tape here. Liquid glue could be used, but would have to be smoothed and spread very thin, and would be a lot messier.

Artzzle.com

After glued area is ready, fold dry side over onto the glue, and smooth. I smooth it by hand first, and then use my brayer to roll it even flatter.

Artzzle.com

Now position your templates on the paper.
Artzzle.com

Next just trace the templates and cut out your object.
Artzzle.com

Remember, my pieces here are for a mobile, so both sides will be seen. Obviously, you can avoid all the glueing and cutting if you just want a piece to put on top of something else, like a greeting card or poster.

Tomorrow, my mobile will be completed and up for photos, so I’ll post it then.

Have fun with these and as always, don’t stress about it, just start!

On the Mend

Hi all.

Quick post today. Ever heard the old saying “Trouble comes in three’s? Well it often does and that is probably the only example where three is NOT my magic number.

In the past three days, three of our family members have had ER hospital visits; grandaughter Carmen, Hubs and me. Hubs is A-OK now and Carmen well on her way (she’s even going to try playing in her volleyball tournament today), and I’m on the mend, but kind of loopy from the drugs prescribed.

So, may not be any Monday post this week. But remember to visit “Dogs Don’t Eat Pizza” and join in Karen’s Tuesday Talk” post. If you visit her later on that day, you may find a second, non-Tuesday related piece up. Just scroll down her archives to pull up the TT article.

Thanks and I’ll talk to you soon.
